Chipping Barnet Town Team brings together volunteers, groups, councillors/MP, and Barnet Council. They meet formally every 2 months, but are in communication all the time. The Chipping Barnet Town Centre geographic area is shown on this map (taken from here).
What we do
Supporting New Business
In 2022-2023, a disused shop we turned into Chipping Workshop, a community pop-up and work space, with 3 of the occupants going on to open the shop Boutiques and Bakes on our High Street.
In the past, we’ve helped with shop 89, Tea Station café – a cafe run by local college students, Billy and Betty gift shop and Chipping Barnet Teenage Market.
LoveBarnet.co.uk
Launched during the 2020 pandemic, LoveBarnet.co.uk was created to be the central directory of shops in Chipping Barnet. Since then it’s grown to be the go-to what’s on guide for the town including day-to-day events, town events, and theatre, cinema and arts listings. You can also find news, things-to-do and where to stay. All created for free by our town team volunteers.
A big thank you to all the local groups who provide content for this site. An even bigger thank you to Gail who created the Love Barnet brand, including previous forms of this website, and all the social media content since 2013.
Social Media
Created back in 2013, our Love Barnet Facebook, Instagram and Twitter pages have been used to promote the town’s shops and events ever since. It’s how we reach the thousands of locals who subscribe to our pages.
Planning for the Future and Applying for Grant Funding
The Town Team has been the place where local groups have come together to decide on the future of the town. In 2019-2021, The Council and Town Team worked with an appointed consortium of consultants, led by Architecture 00, to create a Community Plan, where all of the town was encouraged to contribute and get involved. By having a Community Plan, we now have projects we can create, when funding from local, regional or national funding becomes available.
Funding bids have been successful over the years for remodelling around Barnet Church, de-cluttering the High Street, as well as crowd funding campaigns for projects such as the Teenage Markets.
Annual/Seasonal Events
The Barnet Medieval Festival and Barnet Christmas Fayre are the two big events that the Town Team support.

Christmas Tree & Lights
The Town Team makes sure Chipping Barnet looks it’s best in the Christmas Shopping period. Barnet Market regulars Greengrocers Choice provide the tree, with thanks to the sponsors, Statons.
